Seaham V's Guisborough
Guisborough travelled down the A19 to play Seaham on a cold but dry November day and immediately got into their rhythm when Joe Bossomworth crossed the line from a move that started inside Guis's half. This is where Guis lost all composure and started to force the play. The forwards played some tidy rugby clearing out rucks and giving the backs some good ball. Unfortunately the handling skills were not as good as previous weeks and knock-ons or forward passes dragged the game to a standard well below Guisborough's usual. Try's did come sporadicaly, Mike Mcdougall, Paul Lamb, Eddie Lodge and James Clarke all touched down but Guisborough disapointingly allowed Seaham to score through a rolling maul to end the half 35-5.
Second half was the Tom Rose half, when from inside his own half a gap appeared he pinned his ears back and skinned the defence with his pace, 5 minutes later he did the same again for his second try of the day. This seemed to turn the switch and the backs started playing some effective rugby. Owen Edwards scored from a strong run started by a mazy run from Rose. The best try of the day was scored by Josh Brown, the ball was taken in by the forwards on the right hand side and went through all the backs hands. Joe Bossomworth joined the line from full back to make the extra man, he drew the winger and fed Josh. James Clarke rounded the day off with his second of the day, hopefully for next weeks cup game the forwards and back can play a more cohesive game together,
Man of the match Mike McDougall.
Final score 59-5.
