Alan our Al as he likes to be known retired in the middle of the 2005 -2006 season for medical reasons. (Nothing Serious) ish. Alan was a flyer in his time playing normally at full back or wing.On occasion he stood in at centre or fly half. Alan will be remembered for his try saving tackles and safe hands under the high ball. Alan can still be seen on Saturday’s watching Guisborough and in the Town on a night. Favourite moment: Paul Towers remembers watching AL in full flight with half of Houghton chasing him, all of a sudden Al starts hopping about 5 meters out from the try line. He managed to score with half of Houghton on his back. I shouted what was that about. The reply came "I have snapped my F***ing Hamstring".

Started playing rugby for Guisborough in the mid nineties, before work commitments moved me away from the North East in 1999. Still managed to get back most weekends from Scotland between 1999 and 2001, however have since been overseas. Played a bit of rugby for Kuwait, and the odd game for Azerbaijan Exiles, where I'm currently based. I still get back to the club whenever 'home'. I managed to play Boxing Day and thoroughly enjoyed it (the last time I’d played before that was the previous boxing day). I’m still aching! Miss the club and the lads dearly, Andy
Favourite moment: Coming soon |

I started the cub when i was 9 years old. Went through the junior's untill i was 16 then our team folded due to university commitments. I was doing a apprentiship so i was still able to play so i went down to train with the adults. I played in the 2nd team under taff, and ended up getting voted player of the year 2001-2002. Then one of my proudest moment was taking Rich Muir's no 9 shirt in the first 15. I was voted the most improved play of the year 2003 for the first team. I Started to get a regular start in the 1st's from then on. Voted player of the year in 2004. This was a bad year for me as i was involved in a car crash, that ended my career at only 21. I miss the game so much esspecially now all the lads that went 2 uni are back playing and the team is doing very well, with the good mix of experience (Dev, Tower's etc) with young blood the berriman brother's. I had top time playing at Guisborough Rugby Club making lots of friends, miss playing with you all. Rugby that is. Andy Newham Favorite moment. I have loads, Going to Australia for free has to be up there but i always think of one game we Played at Barnard Castle. We had to win to stay up as we where right down at the bottom of the league. It was a red hot day. I don't know where the performance came from but the back row where unreal with Tow, Flinty n Stevie Scott. Even Lee Rich played well knocking over some very good penalty's. As we crawled of the pitch in shear exhaustion. We were greeted by the legend Col stockdale with his car boot open filld with cans of stella. Ah mint. I was wrecked that night but thats one of my favorite moments to.

Mark Richardson |
Backrow man Mark has unfortunately had to call time on his rugby career due to injury. Mark was a well respected player who was not afraid to put his head where it hurts. Quick about the park and determind in the tackle. |
Des Horton |
Des has now retired at the tender age of 25. Recently married we wish him well. |
Kev Hamlyn |
Kev left in the 2005 season. Recently became a Dad. We hope to see him back playing one day. A faster man you have never seen |
Dave Cook |
Dave has had up and down career at Guisborough. Things never really got going due to injury and career changes. Again another one we hope to see return |
Paul McCluskey |
Former Player and coach Paul had been with the club a lot of years. We owe a big thankyou to Paul for his services and we wish him and his new team Acklam well. We will be seeing ya. |
